Even though located in arid Colorado, moisture from Four Mile Creek ensures ample foliage along the canyon floor to entice a wide variety of wildlife, most notably bighorn sheep, elk, deer, beavers, bear, and mountain lions as well as red tail hawks and an occasional bald or golden eagle.

In Lakemoor West, water is supplied to homes by wells. Colorado subdivisions like Lakemoor West are required by the Division of Water Resources to have a well augmentation plan.

The Lakemoor West POA is located in the southwest corner of Teller County, CO at an elevation slightly below 8000 feet along the Four Mile Creek. The area is surrounded by steep canyon walls on each side with BLM property beyond. The subdivision is composed of approximately eighty properties with approximately twenty five families in residence full time.
